Anti social behaviour takes many forms

Shenstone and now Wall seems to be falling victim to the type of idiotic behaviour other areas have been suffering from for some time.

I wrote recently about the silly vandalism and graffiti that has been taking place in Fazeley. Well, I’m pleased to say that on the vandalism front Shenstone and Wall don’t appear to be having significant problems. If anyone can tell me otherwise please let me know.

Wall graffitti.jpgOn the graffiti side however, we’ve been having one of our occasional mini epidemics. Bits and pieces have been appearing in odd parts of Shenstone and the surrounding area. The latest, as you can see in the pictures, is rather larger and more difficult and expensive to shift, impacting on those who travel from Wall into Shenstone.

I must say that on my walks around Wall I’ve never seen any graffiti before. Some may call the type of graffiti in one of the pictures Art. That’s a debate that will go on but as far as I’m Wall graffitti 2.jpgconcerned there is a place for most things and this place is not the one for what is simple criminal damage and will be treated as such.

One problem with graffiti is that, left unremoved, it tends to attract further ‘artistic efforts’. I’ve arranged for the graffiti to be removed and the photos of it, which in many cases can identify the culprits, will be forwarded to the police. The mess on the bridge should be gone in the next couple of weeks.

Yesterday Sat 24th March I was undertaking my usual clearing of the litter from Chesterfield Farm around Ashcroft Lane when I was pleased to see that the graffiti on the M6 Toll bridge was being cleaned off by contractors. It took two separete visits as the contractor ran out of water. Thank you Mathew for assisting in this removal and the clearing of the tipping that has has been a continued problem in this area. I am sad to say however that more graffiti has now arrived on the A5 bridge which the contrator was not contrated to undertake removal of. Having cleared the area of one sack of rubbish yesterday, back the paper was this morning. I will continue to clear the rubbish I can carry home to provide a better enviroment for people using this access road.
