Watch out…. watch out…. there’s a Sir Humphrey about!!

The title came to me having recently seen a programme on the most popular tv adverts of the last couple of decades. It was promoting the daily ‘pinta’ using fictional milk stealing creatures called Humphreys. I think I remember seeing the original ads… or am I too young…  sadly not!

It then made me think of that wonderful satirical comedy, Yes Minister from the 80’s, with Jim Hacker as the Government Minister constantly battling with Departmental ‘Perm Sec’, Sir Humphrey Appleby.

And all that in turn made me dwell on the rather tedious few weeks I’ve been having with Local Government versions of Sir Humphrey in Staffordshire. I know at the moment exactly how ’Jim’ felt but’ll keep at it and if I don’t get the progress needed perhaps I will write more about it then.

For the moment though writing this much eases some of my frustrations without sending the Sir Humphreys into their foxholes!
