Whittington FC making a big difference

I went to the latest football coaching session for young people with special needs and disabilities on Saturday. The volunteers from Whittington Foofball Club are doing an amazing thing each month at King Edwards leisure centre in Lichfield.

It’s all about making sure that disability, of almost any type, isn’t a barrier to taking place in sport. And these guys are proving that beyond doubt. The youngsters are clearly having a great time and it’s also good to see the younger able bodied helpers learning more about what it’s like to have a disability.

The organisers are now going to expand activities meaning that qualified specialist football coaches will take these activities into the special schools around Lichfield and I was pleased I found them some money to help do that. This is voluntary work at its very best making a big difference for a growing number of young people.

They are a credit.
