All down as promised!
They are a necessary evil, make the place look untidy and often hang around for longer than they should.
Political posters on lamposts are part of our democratic process and we put up over 250 of them across the Lichfield Rural East County area to remind people to vote for me. Other parties were slow putting their reminders up and a week before election day I thought mine would be the only ones.
But they weren’t and in some parts of the area the Greens, Lib Dems and Labour all used them. I did pledge that my posters would be taken down within 3 days of the Poll and, despite the appalling weather over the weekend, we were out doing just that.
And every one is now safely down as promised.
I would just comment on those people who clearly have a problem with honest and open democracy. It’s a sad reflection of some who chose to ’steal’ half a dozen of the posters and break about the same number in half leaving them as ‘rubbish’ on the floor.
I don’t agree with other political parties policies but I still think that democracy for all is far better than the alternative and in our country everyone should be able to express themselves openly. A few clearly don’t believe that but for those who did remove and destroy some of my posters…. bad luck!… nearly 70% disagree with you.
