There are a good many reasons why so many pubs are closing down (in particular, rural pubs).  Here are just a few:

Not seen as places to meet socially for most adults under the age of 40.

High price of drinks compared to supermarket prices

Poor (or non-existent) public transport in rural areas - so do we &#039;drink &amp; drive&#039;?
