Matthew funds Tame First Responders

Local people giving their time for extensive training, all to help those in trouble…

Community First Responders have been around for a few years now and have become a successful and important link in the ambulance emergency response system for more rural areas.

They are groups of volunteers who are local to the area they cover and the idea is that they get to certain types of emergency faster than the professional ambulance service. In many cases the time saved in getting medical assistance to a patient can make a life and death difference.

The CFRs are well trained by the West Mids Ambulance Trust and are qualified to use defirillators, deliver cardio pulmonary resuscitation, general first aid and numerous other skills including scene safety and lower level incident management.

So I’m delighted to have helped a brand new group called the Tame CFRs. They cover about 70 sq miles including Tamworth, Fazeley, Mile Oak and Bonehill. They are all volunteers and on top of that they have to raise the money to buy much of the kit.

The £1500 I’ve provided from my County Members’ funding scheme will cover the final amount needed to purchase all the kit to get started properly. An excellent new inititive for part of the area I represent and it complements very well the CFRs who cover the wider Whittington area in another part of my patch.
