Fazeley pavement parking must be tackled

I learned about the problems of inconsiderate parking when I attended a police surgery at Mill Link recently…

And I saw the problems for myself the other evening. The New Street area of Fazeley suffers from difficult parking issues with people eating at local restaurants but forgetting that where and how they park affects locals.

Parking is a problem, particularly at weekends, in some parts of Fazeley

Not only are the side streets congested stopping homeowners from parking near their houses but there have also been issues of safety with people parking on pavements and incidents where emergency vehicles haven’t been able to get through.

When I met Highways officials there to discuss options it became clear that a lot of parking places a few yards further away from the restaurants area weren’t being used because they are that two minutes further away. 

So, the Highways people are going to have a look at what can be done for the whole area. Signage, new time restrictions and probably some physical works to change some of the current parking arrangements so more can cars can be accomodated in the same amount of space.

One way or another they’ll now come up with some options to improve the situation, particularly at weekends, without adversely affecting the restaurant trade.
