Donations coming in for Staffordshire Hoard

The efforts to stop the Anglo Saxon treasure ending up in London are gathering pace…

And it looks as if it should be a successful outcome with the Hoard making its permanent home in the region, jointly between Staffordshire and Birmingham, Stoke and other local partners.

London seems to be a magnet for anything of significance at the expense of anywhere else in the country. But, this time, it looks as if those in the south will have to venture north to displays in this part of the world.

The key players in making sure this happens are StaffordshireStoke and Birmingham with excellent support from Lichfield District Council and Tamworth Borough Council. But actually, it’s a good example of all ‘team Staffordshire’ working together.

The target figure to buy the Staffordshire Hoard and secure its future here is £5million and the general public have really put their hands in their pockets so far, along with local authorities, which means we are well over half way there.

Finding the Hoard was spectular and if we can keep it here instead of London we plan to make sure the tourism industry is at the very heart of the economic boost it could bring.

Come on, help us keep the Staffordshire Hoard in the heart of the Mercian Kingdom where its roots lie. Click HERE to make a contribution… please!
