Autumn in Paris

Eurostar.jpgWell I think it was Autumn. Unfortunately, unlike Bosnia last week, I wasn’t able to see any of the City other than during the taxi trips to and from the Eurostar station.

One thing that was quite stunning was the Eiffel Tower which was covered in flashing lights with laser beams firing from the top in all directions. My camera, at that stage, British Pavilion.jpgwas still in my case in the boot of the taxi!

I was there with colleagues in my role as chairman of ICELE for a couple of days at the World eDemocracy Forum in Issy on the outskirts of Paris.

Never been on the Eurostar before and I can highly recommend it when Issy6.jpgcompared to flying. No waiting around, straight through the airport style security at Waterloo and really relaxing once on board with plenty of room to work on a laptop.

The cross Channel trip of about two hours twenty minutes to the centre of Paris passed very quickly.

We met some useful people and made some good contacts from around Issy1.jpgEurope over the two days although the conference itself wasn’t as busy as expected for some reason despite having a couple of European Ministers speaking there.

I must admit the journey back to the UK did seem longer than going, mainly because once back at Waterloo I’d still got the journey to Euston and then on to Lichfield. I was Issy9.jpgjust tired I think… but it’s certainly the way to go to the Continent.
