Show your support for our military NOW!!

The reports that our military are being urged not to wear their uniforms in public in our own towns and cities seems to be another indication of the growing difficulties we face in this country. I hope the abuse and threats that RAF personnel are facing when out and about in Peterborough are one offs but the fact the CO there has issued the no uniform instruction suggests it is more regular and more serious. Whether we agree or disagree with the British Army deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq, our military staff go where they are told to go by the Government. If we in the UK were under direct military threat, almost everyone, including the cowardly fools responsible for the abuse, would want our soldiers, sailors and airmen to protect us without fear or favour.

We expect them to stand between us and our foe putting their lives on the line for us.

So, I’m proud of our military and everyone else who is should make that known in every way possible. Show those cowardly wasters they are in a minority!!

I disagree with Iraq and Afghanistan but the lads and lasses have no choice. We should be proud of them and I am!!!!!!!!!

Our soldiers are the most professional in the world and we should and, I’m sure in the main, do support them.

I presume those abusing soldiers in Peterborough are part of the UK’s community of lager lout.

A spell in the Army would be an excellent way to get the louts off our streets and in to doing something useful.

Some form of National Service would put right many of the UK’s social and alcohol problems. Why don’t you bring it back!!

I agree. Support our Armed Forces!

It’s an illegal war and the military have a choice.

Sorry, but they don’t have my support.

Actually they don’t have a choice unless you go AWOL.

It is clear that Ian from Arbroath knows little about the Army and I also suggest he would be one of the first to scream for protection from our military.

Several Scottish regiments have been fighting in Iraq and I believe they like everyone deserve our thanks and gratitude.

I happen to think the operations in the Middle East have been a disaster in most ways. But that is the fault of those at Westminster and not the fault of those on the front line.

When it comes to this country being in danger we want a strong and proud military and we should support them and be proud ourselves.

Matthew, you talk in other posts of your work carrying out inspections at independent Whittington Barracks and you sound surprised at the quality of Army training.

Despite the odd difficulty across the military I suggest what you and your colleague inspectors have found is the rule rather than the exception to it.

I’m glad to see the majority of people commenting on your site are supportive and I hope more people will stand up and say that too!

The war is wrong, it’s all about oil.

Most don’t support the invasion of other countries and those who do it have the choice.
