Scrutinising Staffordshire’s public sector services
Scrutiny Committees and Panels investigate issues and scrutinise the policies and work of both the County Council and local councils. County Scrutiny also looks at the work of some other public services such as Police and Health.
Normally, Parliamentary Select Committees look at the work of Government Agencies although in some circumstances that too can be addressed by County Scrutiny.
The Committees and Panels are made up of County Councillors at County level and local councillors at District and Borough level. Sometimes, however, the County invites local councillors to join County Councillors on joint committees covering two or three local council areas looking at issues like health.
The work of Scrutiny at all levels is crucial for holding the leadership of public bodies to account.
If there is something in public services which you think needs looking at, first of all understand in more detail how it all works by clicking here and then if you think it is appropriate contact me to see if I can assist with it.
